Description

Along a slow-moving river, he watches as her body drifts below the water's murky surface, forever altered. Before he disposes of each victim, he takes a trophy. It's a sign of his power, and a warning--to the one destined to suffer most of all... In Grizzly Falls, Montana, Detectives Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescoli are struggling with a new commander and a department in the midst of upheaval. It's the worst possible time for a homicide. A body has been found, missing a finger. Alvarez believes the disfigurement means a murderer with a personal grudge, not a deranged madman with a brutal fetish. Pescoli can only hope she's right. But then a second body turns up, bearing the same mark... As the clues begin pointing toward a suspect, Pescoli's unease grows. Even with Alvarez barely holding it together and her own personal life in chaos, she senses there's more to this case than others believe. Lisa Jackson’s DESERVE TO DIE, is one of mystery and suspense in Grizzly Falls, Montana (#6 To Die Series).

Detectives Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescolli, are assigned to the case while their old captain, Dan has been shot and hanging by a thread. Pescolli is pregnant, and engaged, her children are

teens and wondering if she wants to start over again, or if her man will want this unplanned surprise.

In the midst of all drama you have a murderer, a serial killer, killing women and cutting off their ring finger. In addition, Jessica (rich to desperate)/Anne Marie is on the run and in disguise, and someone is after her. Are they connected? With two storylines, they collide for a powerful suspense drama.

Even though I have read a few of Lisa Jackson’s books and loved them; this was my first in the To Die Series, so may have enjoyed it more if reading the previous books. I also listened to the audiobook, performed by Natalie Ross, and did not truly connect with narrator, so this could possibly have had a negative impact on the overall book. However, I will definitely read Lisa Jackson again

I enjoyed this story by Ms. Jackson. It was not always truly believable, but it was entertaining and not all "reveals" were easily guessed.

However, as I have stated before, this book's narrator Natalie Ross, is not a competent performer. I try to rate books separate from the narrator's performance,
Show More
but I so dislike her voice, I can't be sure that it didn't have a negative effect on my "star" rating. Ms. Ross decimates Selena Alvarez's character. Her voice changes mid-sentence from a hispanic to a british then on to an irish dialect. She consistently shows NO consistency. In addition, she has a least two different interpretations of Regan Pescolli's last name. Ms. Ross changes which syllable to accentuate, which in turn affects its cadence.

PLEASE [fill in the blank - author, publisher, agent, recording studio] don't use Ms. Ross as the narrator of Ms. Jackson's books in the future.

I quite enjoyed this book!! I even welled up a few times!! But I'm a softie and I get emotional over greeting cards and commercials... But I've been with this series since the 1st book and I really enjoy the characters!! I like how different characters from previous books sometimes make appearances

in other books!! Even Detective Montoya from her New Orleans series was mentioned in this book!! I always get a clear picture in my head as I read Lisa Jackson's novels.. While some people mention they don't like a lot of details.. I actually do.. I feel like I get right into the story that way!! I'm really hoping there's going to be more of Alvarez and Pescoli!! Also waiting in more of Bentz and Montoya of her New Orleans series as well... I've just had a HUGE run if nearly every one of her romantic suspense novels.. There's only 3 or 4 of her standalone so have yet to read.. So I'm hoping for more in the near future!! YAY for Lisa Jackson!!

This is the 6th book in a series, and I have not read the first 5 books. I think this thriller can be enjoyed without reading all the books. The central mystery is strong, and doesn't rely on any previous knowledge. Reading the other books would come in handy for the personal stories of the

detectives, but it was easy enough to follow along and I didn't feel lost.

For me, the book was good but not great. If I had been more invested in the characters, maybe I would have liked it better.
