The magic school bus is taking everyone rock hunting- naturally this involves drilling into the earth, going all the way from the mantle to the core and going back out again at a volcano. They learn about the formation of a few types of sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks.

I liked it a little bit because it was about the earth, which I don't know alot about. Some of it was weird, when the bus could see and it changed into different things. The kids should have been shaking up and down when they were using the jackhammers.

I read this book as a read aloud to my 3rd grade class. It went so well with the science lesson which was Rocks and Minerals. The book had so many great facts that went along with what we had been talking about in class. Not only is it educational it is also very entertaining. Most of the students

had also seen they video that went along with the book. The students all enjoyed this book!

I remember reading the Magic School Bus books when I was in elementary school and they were my favorite. I decided to pick one up and read one again for the first time in years, and I was reminded of why I liked them so much. The imagination combined with the learning material make these great

Ms. Frizzle's class decided to stop studying animals' homes, and move on to studying the earth. Her homework for the kids was to bring in rocks, and the students showed up with concrete and muddy styrofoam. Ms. Frizzle decided to take the class on a trip in the magic school bus, and they go through the earth's crust straight to the center of the earth and out the other side through the mouth of a volcano. She made rock collecting fun!

The teacher can read this book in class when learning about the earth and the different layers. He or she could have the students draw the Earth demonstrating the layers Ms. Frizzle's class went through. Also, the teacher could have everyone bring a rock to class and have everyone show each other their different rocks.

In this adventure on the magic school bus Ms. Frizzle takes her students on a trip inside the earth. The students learn all about the minerals we find in the earth and how the earth's surface can affect people depending on where they live. The students stop at each level in the earth and what that

The Magic School Bus Inside the Earth by Joanna Cole is an Easy Reader. This book in the series takes Ms. Frizzle and her students on an exploration of what our earth is made of. The students learn about what makes up the earth's crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core while seeing everything

first hand.

I remember reading several Magic School Bus books in elementary school. I always wondered why we couldn't go on field trips like Ms. Frizzle's class.

As an extension I would have students brin in rocks and we would try to figure out what type they are.

Genre: Science Fiction. This book is science fiction because although it teaches about scientific information, this story did not actually happen and takes place in an imaginary world. The class hops on the school bus to go inside the earth to learn more about it. Here they learn about rocks,
Show More
minerals, and the earth's crust. They learn different names of rocks and about fossils as well. They discover the layers of the earth and that rocks make up different layers of the earth.

Setting: The setting of this story takes place inside of the Earth. This is important because the words and pictures used to describe the story help explain the various kinds of rocks and how they are formed or where they are found. Through the places the class travels in the book, we can discover different kinds of rocks and learn more about the earth and what makes up the earth.

Media: colored pencil

The kids are going to learn about the Earth, so the teacher Ms. Frizzle leaves them homework to bring a rock that they find to class. Only a few understand the homework and only one brings in a correct rock. So its time for a field trip. The kids go to look for rocks and learn about science and

each type of rock throughout the field trip. Then they follow on to the crust, They finally arrive back at school and see their collection of rocks.

The kids in Ms. Frizzle's class have been studying animals' homes. There's a beehive, a wasp's nest, an ant farm — even a beaver lodge right in the classroom. It's a relief when the Friz announces, "Today we start something new." They are going to study earth science.

The Magic School Bus, is a fun and wonderful way to introduce many science topics into a classroom. To begin a lesson on earth science, this book can be a fun way to start off the lesson. Students can read the book with the teacher and then do some of the experiments in the book themselves.

Love the magic school bus series as a solid way to teach students about science in a fun way. When the class forgets to do its homework, a fieldtrip through the Earth's crust, into the center of the Earth, and out through a volcano will teach them not to forget their assignments again.

I would be happy for Ms. Frizzle to teach my boy and take him to the centre of the earth, and in general the panenthusiasm this series (this one is about rocks) brings can only be a good thing, I imagine, even if the necessary reserve of skepticism or sarcasm--the frazzle to the teacher's

frizzle--left to the children is so often expressed in the form of lazy TV-style one-liners (it's also a TB show, I know).

This book talks about the inside of the earth. It also talks about different rocks and the layers. It briefly goes into what a fossil is. I would read it when the time was right.
