A very interesting account, but one that the German generals exploited for all it was worth. The appealed to Hart's ego and he got their version of events out for them. Of course, that version was that they were innocent dupes of the Nazi regime and knew nothing of atrocities towards civilians.

Subsequent historiography has proven that they knew more than the claimed and played a larger role in waging aggressive war against civilians than they claimed in their talks with Hart. Show Less

A canonical item for the WWII collection, but subsequent historiography has illuminated Liddell-Hart's active role in burnishing his own reputation.
