The Great Courses (2013), 12 hours, 24 lectures
Description
"Even though early Christianity is one of the most studied fields in the entire discipline of religious studies, numerous controversies continue to puzzle both scholars and laypeople. This course examines 24 of these controversies to show why they have fascinated students of the Christian religion and to attempt to resolve them with academic rigor."--page 1 of course guidebook.

Pretty much everything in this course is covered at greater length in one or more of Ehrman's other courses or books. But that is really its strength, since in these compact 30-minute lectures he makes his points more concisely than he tends to do in other places. If you are new to the subject,

listening to this will provide a great overview of the various issues, both with the new testament itself and with how it has been interpreted over the centuries. You can then follow up, probably with one of Ehrman's other lectures or books. He remains probably the best explainer of the bible's historical impossibilities, forgeries, and misinterpretations. If you only have time for one of Ehrman's series of lectures with Great Courses, this is probably the one to pick. It's like a "best of" cut through what he covers in the rest of them.
