This series is consistently strong. I could read the whole series over from book one. Actually, I want to do that.

I love Mercy's strength, courage, cleverness, magic, and her trickster heritage. I love Adam's loyalty and devotion and his wolf. I love the web of friendships and community they've
Show More
built that help keep them strong. All are well and fully displayed in this novel.

Such a fun read. I loved being able to get lost in a book again - stayed up too late reading more than once, in a crazy busy week that really could have done with more sleep.

A surprise at the end made me re-read several scenes looking for hints. My read is this was truly a surprise to almost all the characters, but I'd really like to ask the author about that if I ever got the chance.

I was so excited to read a new Mery Thompson. I read it in a few hours. I love this series. Silence Fallen was amazing. I literally couldn't put it down. I love all the old characters and enjoyed meeting a few new ones. Patricia Briggs does not disappoint.

Wow. I like Mercy - mostly - but this may be the best one yet. Pretty standard start, with Mercy attacked and kidnapped (Mercy's in trouble, so what else is new). The villain is new and...complicated. But the whole thing with Mercy loose in Europe, and tripping over a whole bunch of unfinished
Show More
matters there, is great. Particularly the bit Gary Laughingdog left for her - sheesh! Libor is also a very complicated person - there are a lot of them in this story. Old supernaturals tend to get that way. A lot of not quite saying what's expressed, a lot of outright manipulation. I am highly amused to think that with all the plots within plots, Coyote had the last word (or first), without even being there. A very rich story; a lot of insight into some characters who have been around the whole time, and some who are newer. The jumping back and forth in time only bothered me once - when we get two Mercy chapters (intentionally) out of order; that was annoying. Cheating, sort of - done purely for the cliffhanger. The rest was pretty clear (and yes, the chapter headings helped). Bran's part was interesting, but I was annoyed - that was author fiat. I'm not sure who was fooled and who was just going along with it. I was definitely fooled, though I did notice he was older and had more tricks up his sleeve than appeared at first. Love it, makes me want to read more in this series...I may do a partial reread, at that.

Great book. I love all of Patricia Brigs books in this series but this, for me, was one of the best. Taking place mostly in Europe, in Italy and Prague, there was action, new and interesting characters, and lots of glimpses of Prague the city and its history. Mercey was at her best and even though
Show More
most of the rest of the pack weren't in the book, there were cameos for a few, and the the new locale and characters added freshness.

This book redeemed the series a bit for me, Briggs didn't assume we remembered the recent additions to the cast of characters (Aiden) and the lightness and humor were back.

I just wish she would stop using the Mercy gets kidnapped, but while Adam is saving her, she saves herself plot line. I do love
Show More
Mercy and Adam's relationship; why can't we spend a little more time with them together.

The latest Mercy Thompson novel finds Mercy kidnapped by vampires, taken to Italy, and dropped right in the middle of a bunch of twisted plots. She is alone, cut off from her mate bond by magic, and at the mercy of a very old vampire. She manages to escape and then finds herself alone in Italy
Show More
without clothing or her passport. And a coyote doesn't blend in very well in Europe!

Meanwhile, once Adam knows where she is, he assembles a team to go to Italy to get her back - no matter what it takes.

I loved catching up with a lot of the characters I have come to love in the earlier books in this series. I love the strong relationship between Mercy and Adam. I also love the strong relationships that Mercy has with a number of her friends from all the various supernatural groups. This episode had a lot of vampire politics woven into it and explained a lot more about the politics that has turned the Tri-Cities and the Columbia Basin Pack into a safe zone for supernaturals.

This was a fast-paced, action-filled novel that kept me reading late into the night.

I’ve enjoyed every book in the Mercy series, some more than others. This quickly rose to the top as one of my favorites. I like when Mercy gets embroiled in supernatural politics and the story has as much intrigue and guile as action scenes.

Mercy gets kidnapped by a big bad vampire – one who is
Show More
equivalent to the Marrok in influence and power. Since she is separated from Adam for much of the book, so Briggs handles this by having the story alternate between his and Mercy’s POV. I liked this a lot because it provided a different perspective on events.

One of the best things about this character is that despite getting into so much trouble, Mercy is never just a damsel in distress. She has agency, and it’s recognized by other characters. This story moved at a brisk pace, with excellent character interactions and solid action scenes. Highly recommended.

SILENCE FALLEN proves that time and again, Mercy Thompson is a delight to tag along with. Even after all these years, Briggs manages to surprise and enthrall with every page. While SILENCE FALLEN reads more like a "monster of the week"
episode than anything driving the world forward, that makes this installment of the series no less enjoyable to read.

Mercy's pack has expanded to the point where sometimes I need a few reminders to remember the newer members, but that brief orientation didn't slow down this story a whit. I was particularly pleased by how quickly (and smoothly) Mercy was operating with autonomy, something this independent coyote does best. I didn't expect the "big bads", and found both the magic and political aspects of the story delightful. It's hard to go into detail without spoilers, but fans of the series will find SILENCE FALLEN to be an exercise in both Mercy's and Adam's strengths, with a more than a few cameos and surprises thrown in for spice.

A wonderful romp, Mercy is a joy to follow as she problem solves, charms, and slips her way through trouble. Much like Ilona Andrews, Briggs lavishes detail in her world building, which will thrill both process nerds and history buffs alike.

SILENCE FALLEN had a different feel to me than the other books in the Mercy Thompson series. For most of the book, Mercy is on her own as she escapes her kidnapper and navigates a country she doesn't know on the path to safety. It started off really slow, but did pick up speed and explored some of
Show More
the little known about abilities that Mercy possesses.

I was constantly left in suspense and the twists and turns thrown into SILENCE FALLEN were spectacular. The allies that come along for the ride to save Mercy couldn't have been better picked and I enjoyed reading from Adam's POV throughout the story—although I like the couple much better when they aren't apart.

We have been through TEN Mercy books so far, I hope we get many many more. I enjoyed the different environment that SILENCE FALLEN brought to the table, but I really do look forward to seeing Mercy back on her home turf again and among her pack.

Loved this book! It was great to read chapters from Adam's perspective, and to see him getting outside of his comfort zone with some vampire diplomacy. Not all of my favourite characters were in it, but the ones who were were at their best, particularly Honey, Marsilia, Elizaveta, and Matt Smith
Show More
(who is not the doctor). Adam and Mercy were seperately awesome, Libor, Bonarata and the goblins were great new characters, and the major villains were appropriately frightening and creepy.

I would have liked to see more of a build-up around the Golem, but I also thought it was appropriate that his place in the plot was a surprise, and I'm not sure it would have been possible to have both of those things at once. I missed the presence of the Pack, particularly Ben and Warren, but it was definitely the right choice not to try to shoehorn too many of them into the main plot. I'm sure they'll be back in the next novel (Storm Cursed, coming out March 2019!)

Mercy is almost killed and is abducted and manages to survive and while Adam isn't always literally there for her, he is there for her.Mercy's view of Prague is not bad, but Adams view of Italy could be anywhere.

This book! Oh how I loved this book. This is such an amazing series that seems to be getting better and better with each book. I started reading this book the moment I had it downloaded on my ereader and finished it less than 24 hours later. I just couldn't put it down. I had to know that things
Show More
would work out for Mercy, Adam, and the whole gang. This is the kind of book that I just love to read.

This is the tenth book in the Mercy Thompson series which I do recommend reading in order. The relationships between the characters have grown and developed over the course of the series and readers really need that knowledge to get the most out of this book. The series is absolutely amazing so you really don't want to miss any of it anyway.

This story is a little different than what I have come to expect from this series. Different in a good way though. Much of this book occurs away from home and I have to admit that this worried me. Have no fear. The awesomeness of this series is still there it just happens in a different location. The key characters from the series all do play a part in this book even though it occurs far from home. I actually think that the change in setting was a plus in this book since it added a new and unknown element.

Another difference that I was thrilled to see in this book is that part of the story is told from Adam's point of view. I was incredibly excited to get to read some of this story from Adam's perspective. We have had the opportunity to see so much of Adam over the course of the series and I found it really nice to finally get to spend some time in his head. This story really only would work well with another point of view and I am really glad that it came from Adam.

This book starts off with a bang. Actually, it starts off with cookies and then quickly gets exciting when Mercy is kidnapped and taken halfway around the world to Prague. Mercy is thought to be very powerful by her kidnappers and she must figure out how to outsmart them in order to save herself. The kidnappers have a head start but Adam isn't too far behind and he is willing to do what it takes to save his mate. There are some pretty awesome vampires, werewolves, and ghosts among other things. There were a few surprises along the way and at least one twist that totally floored me.

I would highly recommend this book to others. This is a book that I will definitely be reading again. Probably quite a few times. This is a truly great series that is dear to my heart. I can't wait to read more books about Mercy, Adam, and the gang as soon as I can get my hands on them.

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Berkley Publishing Group via NetGalley.

Patricia Briggs, you have done it again! I can not say I have followed this book series from the beginning, this is book 10, so stop now if you haven’t read the rest, but I love this series.

This follows Mercy after she is kidnapped by the Lord of the Night, and all the adventure that ensues! I

will not say more than that. Being able to experience the Lord of the Night was fantastic!

I will say that this isn’t my favorite in the series, and I love Adam and Mercy and want a book with them together, the whole time. A whole book.

European diplomacy

This was great because Mercy et al. weren't on their home turf. The European vamps were up to intrigue and trickery and it was a fun adventure.
LibraryThing member Glennis.LeBlanc
This book starts with Mercy being kidnapped by the Lord of Night. He has been deliberate misinformation about her and he is convinced that she is the most powerful supernatural in the Tri-Cities. Mercy escapes quite quickly and finds herself in Europe far away from everyone with not even the
Show More
clothes on her back. It doesn’t take long for her to get into contact with everyone and they are racing to Italy to get to her. Once Adam is there with Marcilia, Stephen, Elizaveta and a few wolves the political dance comes in the forefront and things must be dealt with instead of just getting revenge and scooping Mercy up from where she has hidden herself.
Mercy on the other hand has found the local wolves but has also found local supernatural trouble. This will surprise no reader of the series since chaos finds her wherever she goes. Granted when she does find trouble she fixes it in her own special way that does more good than harm for the final outcome.

A fun fast read and now to wait for the next book.

I need to make some chocolate chip cookies.

Separated but never separate. Mercy and Adam, win the Best Couple award. He listens to her, he trusts her, unwaveringly, she is the same way back at him. It is a beautiful thing.

What a painful ride for Mercy. She is shattered,
Show More
beaten, stolen, scared, and alone. It hurt my heart to travel with her through some of her difficulties. I was seriously worried about her mental health, she was completely immersed in Hades. Never underestimate the trickster with a brain is the lesson to be learned here. I'm seriously tempted to go get a Coyote tattoo. Mercy is the woman I'd love to be.
Adam, what they put him through was horrendous. Vampire's politics are spinning nut-bags with spikes. How cruel is it that Ms. Briggs created the perfect man on these pages ? Every woman deserves and Adam in her life. I know I want one. He is Alpha, it's what he is, but Mercy is more than all that is for him. He makes that very clear in this book, when his trust in his mate allows him to stay in that role. He cuts into his own heart to do as she would want done. - Yeh it had me swooning deep inside. I can almost forget about his nasty crusty ex.
In final conclusion, I loved it, LOVED IT

Chaos is her super power

Mercy is marvelous and of course, chaos really is her super power, no matter what else she managed to do. But somehow, her chaos always makes things better.

Mercy is kidnapped by vampires and is taken to Europe, where she escapes, but has no clothes, no money and no passport and must stay on the run until Adam can find her and neutralise the threat to herself and her pack.

I'll admit I was less enthusiastic about this one that I normally am about the
Show More
books in this series, because my first thoughts ran along the lines of 'oh, yay. Woman in peril who must fight to survive and over come obstacles over and over again.'

I could not have been more wrong. Yes, there are perils and obstacles, but they are more than balanced out by moments of control and action and intelligence. This book was also far more about political negotiations and intelligence analysis, if you'll excuse the out-of-place term here, and I loved that. This felt like a far more intelligent novel that the previous books.

And for the first time in I can't even remember how long, I was totally blown away by the twist. Never. saw. that. coming. I actually exclaimed 'holy sh*t!' out loud. Well played, Briggs. Absolutely brilliant.

There wasn't anything I didn't thoroughly enjoy in this book; I had no complaints at all.

What I love about this series is that you never know where the next book is going to take you. This time, it's Prague. This time is all about the vampire politics and various means of escaping. It was pleasing. It wasn't as mind-blowingly adventurous as some of the previous books -- not quite as
Show More
edge of my seat, not quite as interestingly political (to me), but it was a solid and highly enjoyable read. And it's very exciting to see the development of Mercy's ghost powers -- I'm very interested to see where that will lead.

Also? She mentions my favorite pastry of all time -- the kolache, and it made deeply, to the core, delighted. Other people know about kolaches. My life is complete.

Hard to believe we're 10 books into the series, it's still handling as well as ever blending the werewolves/vamps/fae into different storylines with the characters own personal issues at just the right amounts.

Mercy gets kidnapped by another Vamp lord looking to make a point that the Tri-Cities
Show More
can't hold the deal they brokered in the last book. Hence Adam et al go to 'negotiate' knowing that Mercy seldom needs rescuing.

This might be the first book where Adam gets a POV of his own. intersperced with Mercy. The timeline is slightly out of synchronicity but just about works, helped by the chapter headings which is slightly odd because it's not at all clear why Mercy would be talking to the reader, it's not like these are diary entries. Much of the book is set in Prague, and as I'd coincidentally just returned from there, I felt happy that t he descriptions were accurate enough - I'm guessing the author had too.

The dual storylines really kind of threw me, even though I know its really the only way the story could be told with the plot line being what it was.
