Another great installment of the October Daye series. ONCE BROKEN FAITH starts out slow, but quickly pics up. There is a lot of politics involved in ONCE BROKEN FAITH, but there's also a lot of action, a lot of danger and a lot of mystery to keep you interested and in the story.

All of my favorite

characters were present in ONCE BROKEN FAITH and they all had a part in helping Toby solve the latest mystery that has her and her loved ones in danger. I really loved getting to know Quentin's parents—as leaders and as parents. I continue to love the relationship Toby and The Luidaeg. I have always felt that something big will come out of their relationship and I am more convinced of that with each book.

There isn't a lot of romance in book ten, but Toby and Tybalt are still very much in love and a team like no other. I can't wait for their wedding. I know it will be anything but smooth, but I also know that I'm going to enjoy every moment of it. I'm not sure if it will come with the next book or one down the road, but finger's crossed it comes soon.

If you have been following October since book one, you wont want to miss ONCE BROKEN FAITH. If you haven't started this series yet start at the beginning and start now, you won't regret it.

This was an amazing addition to the October Daye series. I feel like this series just keeps getting better and better. These are hard books for me to review because I just love them so much and the storyline has gotten so involved.

I listened to this on audiobook and the audiobook was well done.

Kowal does a great job with October’s voice, but some of the male voices sound unnatural and over characterized . She does do a great job conveying emotion and having different voices of all the characters.

All the story takes place in Queen Windermere’s castle and it is basically about the conclave convening to discuss the legalization of the cure for Elfshot. Of course nothing is simple...so when a King is killed and a Queen is Elfshot the High Queen and King ask October to figure out who is behind the hostilities.

Toby’s involvement in the investigation and her dubious status as a changeling means that both her and everyone around her becomes a target for the hostile forces lurking in the knowe.

All of our favorite characters are in this story. We spend a lot of time with Toby, Tibalt, and Quentin. I loved that the Luidaeg was in the story so much, she plays a major role throughout. I also loved that Megan, the oneiromancer, also played a large role in the story.

Things are changing drastically for Toby and the Luidaeg makes some rather large hints that Toby was “created” for a larger reason. This makes me curious to see what that reason is but also makes me nervous for Toby and her plans to marry and be happy.

Overall this was an amazing addition to the October Daye series. These books are absolutely spectacular and do a great job of blending faerie mythology with an urban fantasy paced story. I would highly recommend to urban fantasy fans or fans of mythology and faerie.

Finally finished the book. I stalled in the middle - just after she gets stabbed - and took months to restart; but I had no problem picking it back up when I finally did, I remembered who and (pretty much) where everyone was. It's a good story, and (another) major advance in the arc of Toby's life.

I'll have to try rereading it again later, to see if it was just me or something about the story for me that made me stall. It's yet another murder mystery, locked room (sort of) type, with a lot of political twists to both the causes and the available actions (which is how Toby ends up being the solver, as usual). The method is weird and non-obvious (to Toby or the reader). The conclusion is pretty dark, but fits - a solution not otherwise available. I really like the novella at the end - we haven't gotten to see much of Arden, either her past life hiding or her current one being Queen. The novella opens up a lot of information. And a little more about the Luidaeg, too.

I really liked this. We're seeing unintended consequences play out--and planting the seed for more. Gaaah! "You'll owe me one after this!" Eeep!

10 books in and I'm not even close to falling out of love with this series. There were some really worrisome moments in this volume, but all is well. Or as well as anything gets in Toby's world.

Once Broken Faith
4 Stars

October Daye's problems are only beginning when she is ordered by the High King of the Westlands to attend a convocation of Monarchs that will decide whether or not to implement the cure for Elf Shot. As the only Changeling in attendance, Toby is automatically suspected when

one of the delegates is murdered ,and she will have to utilize all of her resources to find the real culprit before they destabilize faerie for all time.

This installment returns to Toby's roots as an investigator and while it is an interesting mystery, there is no significant character development or progression in the overall story arc.

As with most of the books in McGuire's series, the world of the fae is well-detailed and captivating. The malicious prejudices and vicious machinations of the pure-bloods never cease to amaze even though they should not be all that surprising given the nature of the real world today.

Toby's relationships with her various friends (who are actually more like family) are, once again, a true highlight. There are some incredibly heart-warming as well as heart-breaking moments and even one particular scene that might have meant the end of the series for me if it had gone the wrong way. Thankfully, McGuire saves the day and I will continue on with Toby's adventures.

In sum, an enjoyable addition to the series overall, but there are so many compelling questions that remain unanswered and I really hope the next book will provide answers. Crossing fingers!

I did it! I caught up on the series! And it was soooo worth it, too. I was definitely left guessing with this novel, and my heart broke multiple times. I cried at the ending, but I won't say why. If you're already a fan of this series and haven't read this one, I heartily suggest you make it next

it has wonderful little funny moments and a great mystery as the decision on whether or not to let the elfshot cure be released or locked up.

So the fallout of discovering a counter spell to elfshot causes a political uproar of should the cure be put out in the Faerieworld. Toby must attend a convocation of the area Kings and Queens along with representatives of other interested parties as they decide with the High King and Queen in

attendance to figure out the ramifications of the discovery. The usual changeling bias works against her but now she seems comfortable claiming that her mother is Firstborn and it helps that the Sea Witch backs her claim. The majority of the book is a variation on the locked room murder mystery but substitute a locked knowe for a room. As usual it was a great read and then the bonus story with the POV being Arden was nice as well.

In which October nearly dies twice. Again.

Girl, you're gonna end up giving tybalt white fur before you even decide to give up your humanity...

Toby has the cure for Elf-Shot but Faerie has to decide what to do with it. So a convocation of leaders and messy murders ensue that Toby has to investigate.

I didn't want this one to end. Sadly, it did. I am just as in love with this series now, on book 10, as I was from book 1. McGuire is so, so talented.
