Description

AVAILABLE AS AN EBOOK FOR THE FIRST TIME! On a rainy Southern night, Jade Sperry endured a young woman's worst nightmare at the hands of three local hell-raisers. Robbed of her youthful ideals and at the center of scandal and tragedy, Jade ran as far and as fast as she could. But she never forgot the sleepy "company town" where every man, woman, and child was dependent on one wealthy family. And she never forgot their spoiled son, who, with his two friends, changed her life forever. Someday, somehow, she'd return, exact a just revenge -- and free herself from fear, and the powerful family that could destroy her.

I listened to this book and I absolutely loved it. The person that read the book, Dick Hill, was great and made the characters come to life. It was a long listen, but worth every minute. This was my first Sandra Brown book and while I realize that her other books may deal more with romance and
Show More
maybe not delve as much into the plots, I loved the way it was written. There were twists and turns, bad guys and good guys, and best of all, a happy ending. Great book!!

I fully intended to loathe this book, but in fact it was completely diverting and a delightful choice for rush hour listening. It kept me engaged and interested. Most of the time I wasn't even too annoyed at the tedious descriptions of surrounding and environment that seem to accompany these kinds

of novels to pad out their pages.

This is a story of revenge, redemption, healing, and a little romance. I’m still fairly new to Sandra Brown, but this was a really good one. Both the highs and the lows in the story are equally great. The only issue I had is that she uses the “sudden tragic event” as a plot device a little
Show More
bit too much. There’s a lot that happens in this story… rape, betrayal, pregnancy, suicide, AIDS, terminal illness, allergic reactions, accidental death, car accidents, heart attacks… it’s a lot to take in. And I found myself getting frustrated with Jade when she wouldn’t share what happened to her with those that cared about her. I wanted to yell, “For cripe’s sake, just tell them already!” Yet, I could hardly stop myself from listening. Brown knows how to write sexual chemistry.

One of her better books, there are enough plot twists to keep your interest and the characters are varied but easy to keep in mind. A rape victim grows to adulthood with one goal - vengeance on her rapists. She gets the education, experience and power she needs and then heads back home, not

realizing the problems she could be walking into.

Breath of Scandal by Sandra Brown
Jade Sperry has relocated from SC to NY. Because they were better than her, had more money, they had the power, they raped her and she's gonna get revenge on them.
She had gotten out of the factory poor dirt town, Palmetto. Hate the subject: her getting raped and
Show More
others have the power to stop her prosecuting them, but Love that she's able to move on with her life and go back to get
what is due her. The night she's left work early to go tell Gary she was accepted at college is the night the drunk boys found her and her girlfriend on the road, out of gas.
A car with some boys take her to get gas. Her friend stays with the car after they've driven off. That's when it happens and she makes her way crawling to the hospital hours later. Even her girl friend didn't stick up for her..
The story follows all the others and their pursuit of happiness...
The book also follows Jade and her life going to college on a scholarship.
Dislike the very difficult life she has to struggle through but like how she never gives up.
Like how as the story goes along we find out the other clues to solve the mysteries...

For all you Sandra Brown fans, if you missed BREATH OF SCANDAL, the first time around, never fear- NOW available, in kindle format, a page-turner! I
Show More
really enjoy re-issues with the new trendy covers, to proudly display on book blogs, giving the feel of reading a brand new book.

Jade now lives in New York, a successful career woman; however, she has been driven by revenge for the last fourteen years. Everything leads up to her return to her southern small minded hometown of Palmetto, SC for a well-planned attack, on the three boys who raped her when she was in high school; as well as those covering up the crime, destroying her innocence and her future life with high school boyfriend, Neal.

It has been fourteen years since the tragedy, and Jade has not forgotten how she was violated. She has not been able to have an intimate relationship with a man since, and has buried herself in her work, in order to carry out her plan. She has made it to the top, and for the first time she has respect of others and power. She intends on using this position to make these three boys, now men -- pay.

There is also a second storyline of a man named Dillon. Early on in the novel readers are unaware how these two stories or characters will connect. Dillon, a driven engineer has reached much success in the construction business by being ethical. However, he has enemies who take short cuts. Later he experiences tragedy and is tormented by these events. Jade may be the one to help him get his life back. (loved his character)

Jade and Dillon meet in a business environment. However, these two may share more than they know and each of them may be able to right the wrongs, in order to move forward toward the future.

This is one powerful, emotional, intense, hot and sexy novel of tragedy, loss, love, and juicy revenge. Set in Palmetto, South Carolina, a suspenseful page-turner of two storylines which ignite, for a thriller you will not be able to put down. "Brown at her best"!

In addition to the e-book, happened to be traveling; was so engrossed, purchased the audiobook, to carry me through my trip, as well. If you enjoy Sandra Brown, (who doesn't?), fast-paced action, and southern mystery suspense, some romance, and life in the 70's-80's, BREATH OF SCANDAL offers plenty of twists and turns, a few surprises, and oh . . . so entertaining.

This is what I call a "plot driven" novel....and the story was interesting enough to keep me reading to the end. The characters, however, are not as fully developed as I like...they are more devices to move the story than fully developed people. But they weren't unbelievable. And the writing was

good.

In Breath of Scandal, Jade Sperry is a high school senior with her whole life ready to unfold ahead of her. In one fateful night, her dreams are shattered and everything is violently ripped away from her when she’s attacked by three locals. Sadly, her pleas for justice are completely ignored; no
Show More
one will believe her and no one will listen. Jade decides to flee from her small town but vows to return one day to exact her revenge. Years later, Jade does return, only to find that things in her home town have become very different. Even so, she plots her way around and begins to exact her revenge!

This is an absolute must read for any fan of Sandra Brown. In her signature style; she weaves a powerful plot with strong, unforgettable characters. There was a certain part of this story that I found extremely difficult to read and get through. This was not, however, due to bad writing or editing; just the opposite in fact. Jade’s attack and all her tragedies are written in such a hauntingly, realistic way that I felt like I was there, experiencing it all with her.

Sandra Brown’s Breath of Scandal will grab you from the first page and keep you glued to Jade’s story. You’ll be turning the pages as quickly as you can to see how this story unfolds. It’s such a beautifully written, well developed story, I really enjoyed it. While the beginning might be a little depressing for some readers; if you hang in there you’ll see how Jade refuses to give up, refuses to be beaten down, and her true spirit really shines in the end. Highly recommend to all Sandra Brown fans and for anyone who loves a good story about revenge and redemption.

I can't believe I'm reading these chick lit books. Most can not even be considered lit! One thing I do like about them are the empowered women.

I have been a fan of Sandra Brown’s books for a very long time so it is no surprise that I enjoyed this one quite a bit. I actually liked it enough to read most of it in a single day which says a lot. This book was originally published in 1991 so it’s over 30 years old at this point. There were
Show More
times that it did feel a bit dated but in no way did that get in the way of the story. I am so glad that I finally picked up this enjoyable story.

This was Jade’s story. Jade was a fantastic character and she goes through so much in this book. My heart broke for her completely. The first part of the book is one tragedy after another and I wondered just how much Jade would have to bear. I think that Sandra Brown handled a difficult topic incredibly well and expertly set the stage for why Jade is seeking revenge in the later parts of the book. We do also see Dillon’s story unfolding as you move through the book. He has also been through some tragic events and I was really curious how their stories would meet up.

While the first part of this book is completely heartbreaking, the action really picks up in the second half. Years have passed and Jade is an adult and parent of a teenage son. She is ready to get her revenge. The people from her hometown made me incredibly angry. It is crazy how much the powers in town have been able to get away with over the years. Jade and Dillion made a great team and I enjoyed seeing the romance blossom between them slowly. I thought that they were really good for each other. I was very happy that the book came to a very satisfying ending.

I would recommend this book to others. Sandra Brown is an incredibly talented author and I felt like she really shined in bringing the emotions out in this story. I will definitely be reading more of her work soon.
