Fans of Clark's darker suspense/thrillers may not like Alvirah and Willy, a much more lighthearted look at humanity. These six short stories feature an elderly couple who travel on the proceeds of a lottery win and solve mysteries.

Alvirah + Willy short stories ok — good stories / many of them

The Lottery Winner is a book of four short stories. Three of the four are nice adventures. The unfortunate part of the stories is that they are unbelievable in the neatness of their conclusions. The fourth story is the most upsetting because of the story itself. The likelihood of a nice tidy ending

in real life is probably slim to nil. Because of the horrible premise of the fourth story and the neatness of the conclusion, this book has been awarded only three stars.
