Description

This swashbuckling collection of pirate tales is brimful with drama and adventure on the high seas. Especially compiled for young readers, these tales combine a rich variety of storylines with lively vocabulary. Perfect for reading aloud and handsomely illustrated, 'The Barefoot Book of Pirates' is a truly spirited anthology. In these pages, young children will be shipped away to some fantastical places that will both enthral and delight. In the humorous Scottish tale, they will discover how the evil crew of pirates gets more than they bargain for when they come ashore to loot the abbey and attempt to steal its bells; they will see what happens to a foolhardy merchant and his servant in "The Ship of Bones," a spooky tale from Africa; and they will meet the infamous lady pirate, Grace O'Malley, one of Ireland's most feared seafarers.
