Description

Kit's job as a negotiator is one that I could not do. The way she is able to keep calm while someone is in state of unsureness and could kill everyone nearby is pretty amazing. You don't really hear too much about negotiators in the news. However after reading this book I am in awe of their ability
Stories that always take the perspective from the serial killer POV simultaneously creep me out and fascinate me. The killer in this book had major issues about the role of the family which led to the reasons of why he killed his victims. One trait of a psychopath killer that I've found in numerous books is that if it is male, he giggles. Now most men don't giggle when they laugh, so when a guy giggles and there's killing, at least in books he's not all there. I will admit I was in the dark as to who the killer was so I looked in the back. If I hadn't, I would have been clueless until the reveal so in that case, Eason does this very well.
As I had stated after reading the previous book in the series, I had found the secret from the Cash family to be a little too dramatic. It had come out of the nowhere, the revelation of Kit's background and it honestly felt that she was only being introduced in this way so there could be a third book in this series. That being said, the downside to this book was that a lot of those issues feel like they are never really resolved. It's explained why it all happened but Kit never grows a good relationship with her birth mother and she's still harboring resentment towards her adoptive mother. She gets along better with her sisters but the relationship with her father is pretty much nonexistent. Even though she comes to realize how lucky she is to have two sets of family, I didn't feel as if a true relationship between everyone really existed by the end of the book.
Other than this, I enjoyed the story. Kit and Noah have good chemistry together as both partners and a growing relationship. Though I really wonder how many detectives actually have a romantic relationship together and how many actually stay as partners afterward. I'm sad to see the series ending as I feel that Eason blends well the romance with high quality suspense that doesn't stay all neat and tidy. I'll be looking forward to her next series.

Another great addition to this series. Once again involving a serial killer and he is focusing on one of their own family members only not to kill her but to marry her and have a ready made family. The Judge doesn't like the way people disrespect him and some will be killed just for being impatient

or short with him. They all have their hands full with this one and all the twists and turns you just don't know who the Judge is until the end. Gripping and suspenseful with love and romance to a slight degree and a whole lot of faith. Show Less

As they uncover new evidence and more bodies turn up they find themselves in a web of danger. Just as they think they have it all figured out they find something new that just doesn't quite fit.
Honestly - I was so tempted to turn to the last page and see who the killer really was. There were so many twists and turns that I did not fit the pieces together until close to the end.
This is an excellent book.

This is the third book in a series, called the Women of Justice series. But you don’t have to read the first two to enjoy this one. I find I’m totally enjoying the series, though, and the author, Lynette Eason. The way she works around the plot and the unexpected twists really keep my interest.
Writing a killer suspense novel (no pun intended!) with enough detail without getting gorey while adding that touch of romance as well as a Christian theme is a very fine line. Ms. Eason covers all that while still keeping the reader wanting more. It’s really hard to put this one down!
I hope Ms. Eason is planning on a fourth book in the series—the characters are now cemented in my mind and I can’t wait to see what comes next both professionally and personally for them. I would give this book a 5 out of 5 star rating for readability, cohesion, suspenseful plot, and developing sub-plots.

Then there’s the family drama of the main character dealing with the new knowledge of being adopted. Her new family is heavily involved in the story and we get to learn the emotional side of a life-changing event.Writing a killer suspense novel (no pun intended!) with enough detail without getting gorey while adding that touch of romance as well as a Christian theme is a very fine line. For those of you who know me you'll know that one of my favorite genres in Suspense. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. And, I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the Women of Justice series and Lynette Eason's absolutely FANTASTIC writing skills. She instantly pulls me in to each book and wraps me up in the pages. Each page
Of course, this story is Kit and Noah's. Lynette does a great job of incorporating ALL the characters into each and every book. Kit and Noah's story is so much more complicated and intense than the first two books, as Kit and Noah become the target of a serial killer. As Noah and Kit hunt for the killer and rack up the clues, the breath taking suspense kept piling up. So many times, I found myself on the edge of my seat. The whirlpool of an amazing plot line kept Noah and Kit in a race against time, as they fought the incredible aspects of mystery and hunted for a mad man on a killing spree. Who will be next?
That's a question that only Lynette's characters can answer. They are FANTABULOUS. She creates them with a unique passion and I find myself, each time, BECOMING the character. I feel myself in the rush of searching for answers, relying on God to help me along the away. INTENSE!!!
I most definitely recommend this. It's by far, THE best Lynette Eason book to date. Worthy of 5 stars and so much more, this is going to the TOP of my favorite action filled, white knuckled Christian suspense list. This novel is PERFECT for an all night read....you will be catapulted to the middle of incredible mystery that doesn't let you go until the very last word. Definitely great stuff for those insomniacs who can't sleep. I was up until 4 am turning page after page.......after page......after page. I can't WAIT until the next amazing novel like this from Lynette Eason

I enjoyed A Killer Among Us by Lynette Eason. The plot's pace was perfect – not crazy fast, but not boringly slow. As the evidence grew, so did the twists of the plot and the sense of suspense. The characters were well-written, especially Noah Lambert. He managed to be the hero that is often prevalent in Christian fiction, but not in a preachy or stereotypical way. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of romance in the book. Most crime fiction I've read has a only a hint of romance. A Killer Among Us, while not an over-the-top romance, had lovely little romantic moments that led to a beautiful ending.
A Killer Among Us by Lynette Eason is quite descriptive and therefore more poignant than other comparable Christian suspense books. I actually got creeped out during some of the scenes involving The Judge. Because of that, I would not recommend this book to anyone under the age of fifteen. However, if you can handle some gruesome details and a few minutes in the mind of a deranged serial killer, you will probably enjoy this crime suspense novel. Despite the creepiness, I would read it again.

I've read quite a few books by Lynette Eason. I do usually like her writing, but this one felt very formulaic for me. In some ways, it is quite similar to the second book of this series that focused on Kit's twin-sister-separated-at-birth, Jamie. I also don't like the habit the author has adopted
I had a pretty good idea who The Judge was going to be by a third or halfway through the book.
I also had a problem with a scene at the end. If Kit is supposed to be such a good negotiator and subscribes to the "give him what he wants" option, why does she keep referring to Andy as Andy when The Judge wants her to call the baby Eddie. I mean, I can see it when she's trying to alert the SWAT team as to which room Andy is in, but she does it so often and it provokes The Judge several times, that I think she'd start referring to Andy in some other way if she truly is trying to negotiate with this man.
My other big issue with the book is that Kit and Noah fall in love with each other in a matter of weeks and decide to go pick out a ring. At this point in time, it's probably more infatuation than true love--there hasn't been enough time to go through the ups and downs of life. I'm not saying that their love might not be true love if it happened in real life, just that more time is needed to confirm that it is a lifetime love.
