This is a great book because it gives you a chance to cuddle and kiss all your baby's parts individually and make them chortle.

Review baby body parts with short descriptions and lots of pictures. The book has a nice pattern: first a part of the body is identified, then the part is described four different ways. The author then asks who loves the described part of baby. Flip the page and their is a resounding "Me! I do"

with two pages of illustration. All of Baby, Nose to Toes is illustrated by Hiroe Nakata, her watercolors are adorable. Each body part has a corresponding color for example the pages dedicated to eyes are seafoam green; the pages for baby's nose are yellow. The repetition makes it a great candidate for a baby's story time. Recommended for babies up to the age of 2.

This is one of my favorite books to use for baby storytime. I can actually see myself memorizing this text when I get around to having kids to use for a rhyme/playtime.

Things that are great:
The text - The rhythm and rhyme (both internal and line enders) are spot on, mimicking the typical babyese

kind of talk without being overly cutesy. It's a joy to read out loud. There's also lots of opportunity for interaction (peeka-boo, drumming on a tummy/raspberries, dancing, toe-nibbling) which is one of the main things I look for in a baby storytime book since the babies can't focus on books/illustrations for the full twenty minutes of storytime. Even the font is playful!

The illustrations by Hirao Nakata - The color palette is divine with soft pastels in watercolor and gouache that manage not to be insipid. The design is nicely varied with some full bleed pages, some four-block spot illustration-type pages and some irregularly framed double-page spreads. Soft is the word I keep coming back to again and again, soft colors and soft lines. There are lots of little details that can be appreciated in one-on-one readings by parents and older kids. The illustrations also take us through baby's day from morning to evening and show a loving, multi-generational family.

I really do love this book and the only minor faults I could see is that it might be just a tad long with illustrations slightly too detailed for the youngest readers (at whom it seems aimed).

I just saw that this is available as a board book as well and have placed a hold to see how it translates. If it's a good adaptation, I see it becoming one of my favorites as a new baby gift!

This story helps baby discover her or his body, nose to toes. Some of the rhymes do not fit very well together, but the story is cute and has a happy tone. It is great for getting little ones used to story time.

Water color illustrations depict an active young baby doing all sorts of things (most of which you won't find in a typical picture book). Repeating lines throughout show members of the family expressing their love of the child "Me! I Love YOU!" The book includes wonderful body rhymes as well:

"honks when it blows nose" or "round as pies eyes."

Would be suitable for a toddler-time.

This is a super cute read for young children to hear. It covers all the differing family members and body parts in cute rhyming prose. It has a great rhythm and is fun to read aloud as you help point out the different body parts (ie - nose, toes, ears, etc) to your child.
