Description
When we consider the extreme richness and diversity of theatrical dancing today we must remember that ballet, which is the matter of this book, represents the development of over five centuries of ways of using dance as an art form. It is not the province of this book to discuss the great variety of dance as an expression of human spirit from primeval times; rather, are we concerned with the ways in which society adapted dancing, and adopted it as a form of display which eventually led to its emergence as a theatrical entertainment.
